JACK CASADY

John William Casady is an American bass guitarist renowned for his innovative contributions to rock and blues music. As a founding member of Jefferson Airplane, Casady played a pivotal role in defining the San Francisco Sound of the 1960s, with the band achieving success through hits like “Somebody to Love” and “White Rabbit” .

In 1969, Casady co-founded Hot Tuna with guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, exploring a range of musical styles from acoustic blues to electric rock. The duo’s dynamic performances and improvisational prowess have sustained the band’s popularity for decades .

Casady’s distinctive bass playing is characterized by melodic lines and a rich tonal palette, influencing generations of musicians. His commitment to sonic excellence led to the development of the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass, a semi-hollow instrument designed to deliver clarity and depth .

Throughout his career, Casady has collaborated with notable artists, including Jimi Hendrix, contributing to the track “Voodoo Chile” on the album Electric Ladyland . His enduring impact on music was recognized with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Jefferson Airplane .
